Ocean View at Porto Caribe Wedding | Salyshka + John

Some love stories seem to be written long before the couple ever meets.

Salyshka and John first met at a festival in Houston, Texas. John noticed Salyshka because she was wearing a shirt that said “Ponce es Ponce.” What started as a simple conversation eventually became a beautiful relationship.

Then came an incredible coincidence.

They discovered that their maternal grandparents had been childhood friends in Puerto Rico. Even more surprising, Salyshka’s grandmother had passed her wedding dress to John’s grandmother, who had also worn it on her wedding day.

Maybe destiny really was working that day in Houston.

From Long-Distance Love to a Helicopter Proposal

During their first year together, Salyshka regularly drove more than an hour to visit John while he attended the maritime academy in Galveston.

Years later, in 2014, John proposed while flying in a helicopter over the marina in Baltimore.

After six years and three months together, they finally celebrated their wedding in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

A Wedding by the Sea

Their celebration at Ocean View at Porto Caribe brought together everything that made their story special: family, friends, elegant details and the beautiful coastline of Ponce.

From the getting ready moments to the portraits by the ocean, every part of the day reflected the connection these two had built over the years.

And as the sun disappeared behind the clouds, we took a few final portraits by the water—ending the day with one of my favorite images from their wedding.

A love story that began with a “Ponce es Ponce” shirt ended exactly where it was meant to: in Ponce. ❤️
